Just Getting Started

Yeah to artprojectgirl.blogspot.com for being the first follower of my blog!  I am just starting out as a blogger and have so much to learn and soo much I want to do with my site!  Now I just need to find the time!  I am really quite inept when it comes to technology but I am learning (21st century skills, I'm working on it)  My students can trouble shoot my technology issues better than I.  I keep reminding them that there was no such thing as a personal computer when I was growing up!  We had encyclopedias and typewriters.  I am trying to add something at least once or twice a week.  Bear with me it will get better!  (I hope!)

  1. Well now you have a 2nd follower! Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. I'm like you; of the encylopedia and typewriter generation but somehow it will all work out. I am not tech savvy at all but blogger makes it easy I think.

I'm a big dragonfly fan so I'm interested to see if your name of your blog will reflect in something you have up your sleeve.

I like your Laurel Burch cats; as you probably know my 5th graders are currently building some with papier-mache, but I think we'll be painting fantastic felines at another grade level too. I'm a HUGE fan of Laurel Burch and her magical work.

    1. Thanks Phyl! I am also a HUGE dragonfly fan! The name came about after weeks of thinking about what would be a catchy name. Rainbow skies because i tell my students that their skies can always be colorful and dragonflies rhymed!I can't take credit for the beautiful background on my blog,my wonderful husband created it for me. He's the computer artwork genius.( I'm still trying to figure out how to get photos i upload to stay where i want them!)My second graders loved creating their Laurel Burch cats!

  2. It doesn't look like you are having any problems with photos. Sometimes blogger will put them in sideways and there's NO way to rotate them, so you have to rotate your head to look...

I don't know how to create my own background. I just use what blogger has available. My son took my photo of my dragon and made it fit as a header by adjusting it - I don't know how to do that either.

  3. Welcome to the Blogosphere, Mrs. C.! I started my blog, sharpiewoman.blogspot.com, last March and it has changed my life and teaching in so many great ways. You are going to meet so many like-minded educators who will share the most amazing ideas with you. Phyl, from There's aDragon in my Artroom, is a HUGE inspiration to me as well as your first follower, Art Project Girl. Like Phyl, I LOVE Dragonflies and have a necklace and earrings in the shape of Dragonflies that my students always comment on when I wear them. You are so lucky to have a TECHNO-SAVVY husband to help you with your graphics. I am a tech dinosaur and just muddle my way through, although Blogger makes it quite easy. Uploading student art photo's is super easy if you use Picasa. I carry my camera in my apron pocket when teaching so I never miss a good picture of a project in progress or one just completed. Just out of curiosity, what state do you teach in?
